Welcome to Between the Tides

I had to think of a fancy name when I made this Substack, so I landed on Between the Tides, because that’s where most of the stories you read here will take place.

Between the Tides is a journal-entry style blog on my adventures in the salt marsh and beyond, braided with hunting, fishing, and conservation themes. It will also include random musings and other content that I don’t feel like trying to sell to an editor.

My name is Mike Adams. I’m an outdoor writer, hunter, angler, conservationist, teacher, and former wildlife biologist. My blended background plays into both my day to day life and writing.

I like to educate readers on esoteric niches within nature and outdoor recreation. I also like to highlight conservation issues and the people, places, animals, and plants they affect. I like to dive so deep on the mundane happenings of hunting and fishing that they become interesting, and I like to share my stories, whether it’s duck hunting on the salt marsh with my golden retriever named Boone, fly fishing for cod in the fjords of Norway, or getting stuck on a 10,000 foot bald mountain peak while archery hunting for mule deer during a thunderstorm.

Feel free to reach out. Drop a line if you have a question, and if you got nothing at all, that’s cool too. Welcome to Between the Tides.
